Dear all, I need to send audio from a VST-host application (like Ableton Live) to Max, AND viceversa.
Once you have selected Soundflower as the Output audio, you will need to configure the application you want to use to capture the audio. There are a couple of apps on your Mac that can record Soundflower's audio — QuickTime and GarageBand. QuickTime is the easiest to configure; simply choose File and then select New Audio Recording. In the 2016, with OSX Sierra and Quicktime 10.4 you will need to get a virtual Audio Device like SoundFlower to record your systems audio. Once you have SoundFlower installed just do these steps: Change your Mac's output to SoundFlower prior to recording in Quicktime. How to install app as root macos. Start your Quicktime Screen Capture session. “The Mac audio control app Apple should have madea must-have utility for any Mac user who wants more control over audio input and output” J.R. That is because I need to process in Max the audio input from sound-card, but I also would like to use a couple of VST that work better with Ableton Live than with Max.
So I can't use Rewire protocol (that is just 'one-way') and I can't use Soundflower because I'm on Windows XP.
Thank you very much,Bruno
- You could have also used Jack, if you were on Mac or Linux, but alas. You could use one of the tools that allows you to send audio over IP (can't remember what it's called on PC, but it exists), and then specify 'localhost' as the receiving machine. Most of the audio over IP tools allow you to do something like that.-- Dan NigrinDefective Records202 Hack / PC-1600 User / VSTi Host / OMS Convert / Jack OS Xhttp://www.defectiverecords.comhttp://www.jackosx.com
- Try this : http://plasq.com/wormholeNot free but seems reliable.Forget anything about Virtual Audio Cable and Max. It's a pain in the ass.f.e
- Save your Max Patch as a pluggo plugin, install the free Pluggo runtime, and you can use it inside Live..
- Pretty sad there is not an equivalent on Windows. I've been following the beta of Vista and on the audio side it doesn't look quite exciting, quite sad they are not putting efforts in making audio more profesionnal on Windows :(
- There is Total Recorder (but not free) http://www.totalrecorder.com/
- hum. sorry I answered too quickly. I believed that you wanted to record any audio sources. I don't know if this software can send audio on other softwares.
- By the way, JACK for windows isn't just in the pipeline - there is actually a working version (jackdmp), although it's still a bit buggy. It's mentioned on the main JACK page but can be found here:http://www.grame.fr/~letz/jackdmp.htmlAlso, see this thread a KVR audio if you need help setting things up:http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=158585&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=60&sid=2859e0dba9026856525bada5d38e77c8I have it running on my machine with no problems so far, Live sending audio to Max, sweet.
- the s oun din vista is ok. it uses alot less recorces for my personal experience. I'm not sure exactly on the technical side of it but i heard things saying that they took the audio drivers out of the main kernal so it runs as a separate thread like on unx systems. Jack for windows would be great.i didn't know that there was a working version out i shall try tonight if i have time. Jack on linux and max/msp work ok.i've had problems with using jack so i have only tryed some tests. For using max in vst windows applciations.just use pluggo the tutorials are really usful and simple to follow. Its pretty awesome
- Virtual Audio CardIt's free and it works on Windows XP and it creates 3 Virtual Audio Cables as Windows Sound drivers. It comes from a software kit for a commercial TCP/IP mp3 streaming device. Go figure. Works for me in place of VAC (Virtual Audio Cable) but the latency on my machine is pretty awful. YMMV
https://newwine264.weebly.com/how-to-get-a-nook-app-on-my-mac.html. Welcome to our Soundflower installation guide. Installing Soundflower on modern macOS versions can be a little complicated as kernel extensions need now to be given permissions before being loaded for the first time. So the Soundflower installer will error out on macOS High Sierra and Mojave. But this is easy to fix.
macOS 10.13 High Sierra and macOS 10.14 Mojave Soundflower Install
- Download the installer: soundflower_2.0b2.zip.
- Run it and perform the install
- The installer will tell you that it failed. This is completely normal.
- Open the System Preferences and go to the “Security & Privacy” settings.
- Click on the “Allow” button next to “MATT INGALS”.(This has to be a physical hardware click. Remote desktop connections or even local software tools like “Better Touch Tool” won’t work!)
- Run the installer again. This time it will run through without any problems.
Click 'Open Security Preferences'
Click on the Allow button and run the installer again.

IMPORTANT: If you can’t record from Soundflower under Mojave (the device is there but only silence is being recorded) make sure that you have given microphone access permissions to your recording app! macOS treats Soundflower like a microphone in this regard. Go to system preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Privacy -> Microphone -> [check mark next to your recording app]

Download java mac os sierra. Cant buy app on my mac. Because we’re getting this asked a lot: Here’s how you get Soundflower to work with macOS 10.12 Sierra and OS X 10.10 and 10.11…
Drake all me download mp3. As you know, since 10.10, OS X requires kernel extensions to be signed. Sadly the officially available version of Soundflower isn’t signed because it’s an open source project and - as far as we know - no one has volunteered to do the work and pay the $99 fee to obtain a signing certificate.
That’s why we have built a signed version of Soundflower which will work on OS X 10.10, 10.11 and the new macOS 10.12 Sierra.

Shameless self promotion: Have you tried Vector yet? Vector is an audio editor for OS X that is designed to fit into the space between simple audio apps and full blown studio production tools. (Kinda like Cool Edit Pro for the Mac - if you are that old school).
